Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 August 2026

This is a draft prepared to reflect exactly what the QuickFix PC tool and website currently do. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Before publishing this publicly or taking payment from customers, have it checked by a qualified Malaysian lawyer, particularly the sections on cross-border data transfer and PDPA compliance.

1. Who we are

QuickFix PC ("we," "us," "our") provides a downloadable tool and website that help diagnose and troubleshoot common Windows PC problems using AI. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the tool or visit the website, why we collect it, and what your rights are under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA).

Replace "QuickFix PC" throughout with your registered business name once available.

2. What information we collect

When you run the QuickFix PC tool, it reads the following information directly from your computer:

  • Power plan settings
  • Startup programs and their locations
  • Devices reporting driver errors
  • Disk health and free space
  • Recent system error events (last 24 hours) and recent application crash/blue screen records (last few days)
  • CPU/GPU temperature, when your hardware exposes it
  • A description of your problem, either typed by you or selected from a quick-pick list

We also generate and store a random device identifier on your computer (not tied to your name or account) so that if you close the app and reopen it later, we can offer to resume an unfinished conversation.

We do not read, collect, or upload your personal files, browsing history, saved passwords, photos, or documents. The tool only reads system diagnostic information of the kind listed above.

If you use the website, standard web analytics information (such as approximate location derived from IP address, browser type, and pages visited) may be collected. We do not currently collect precise (GPS) location from any user.

3. How we use this information

We use the information collected to:

  • Diagnose the problem you're experiencing and generate a plain-language explanation and suggested fix
  • Maintain the conversation so you can resume it if you close the app or restart your PC
  • Improve our troubleshooting knowledge base over time
  • Understand overall usage of the tool and website (for example, how many scans are run) so we can improve the product

4. Who we share it with

To generate a diagnosis, the description you provide and a summary of your diagnostic data (not raw files or logs) is sent to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, for processing. DeepSeek is not based in Malaysia; this means your data is transferred outside Malaysia to generate a response.

Your data is also stored using Supabase, our database provider, hosted in Singapore.

We do not sell your data to advertisers or other third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising purposes.

This section describes a cross-border transfer of personal data, which has specific requirements under PDPA Section 129. Confirm with a lawyer whether additional safeguards or disclosures are required before relying on this policy.

5. How long we keep it

We retain troubleshooting conversations and diagnostic summaries for [12 months / a period you decide] from your last interaction, after which they are deleted. You may request earlier deletion at any time (see Section 7).

6. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including restricting database access so that raw conversation and diagnostic data cannot be read directly by the public, and using encrypted connections between the tool, our servers, and our AI provider.

7. Your rights under PDPA

Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Withdraw your consent to further processing
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to any legal retention requirements

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [insert a dedicated support email — not your personal email].

8. Children

QuickFix PC is not intended for use by children without the involvement of a parent or guardian.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the tool changes. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the tool.
